DeLonghi MCH710T Multi-Position Ceramic Heater
From Delonghi
DeLonghi's Multi-position Ceramic Heater functions both as a tower heater and floor heater. It's heavy-duty steel body construction makes it perfect for both the living room or the garage. The roll-back safety system roll bars automatically reposition the heater to a safe position in case the heater is misplaced on the floor covering the air intake grilles. Front roll bars prevent overheating that occurs when the grille is obstructed. When used as a floor heater, the unique angled heat flow is directed slightly upwards to extend the warming range beyond just your feet. Also features a 4 hour timer, adjustable thermostat, two heat flow settings, anti-freeze setting, and safety thermal cut-off.

Providing dual-functionality, this multi-position ceramic heater can be used as a tower heater and a floor heater. Its heavy-duty steel-body construction and metallic gray finish make it perfect for both the living room or the garage--or any other room in the house. When used as a floor heater, the uniquely angled heat flow gets directed slightly upwards to extend the warming range. The heater's adjustable thermostat allows for easily selecting and maintaining a desired level of comfort, while its extra-large grille and safe ceramic heating element deliver an intense directional flow of heat for better circulation. Choose from two heat-flow settings--high at 1500 watts or low at 825 watts. For added convenience, an anti-freeze setting automatically turns the heater "on" when the room temperature drops below 44 degrees F, which means no more coming home to a freezing house. The heater also features a roll-back safety system that automatically repositions the heater to a safe position in case the heater gets misplaced on the floor; front roll bars prevent overheating that occurs due to an obstructed grille. Other highlights include simple operation, a four-hour timer, and safety thermal cut-off. The heater measures 8-2/3 by 10-3/5 by 23-1/5 inches.
Good heat output, mediocre control
I purchased this heater to help keep my "three season" sunroom warm in the cooler weather - not toasty warm, but above freezing and usable with a couple sweaters or a light jacket. It is solidly constructed, and the fan moves a good amount of air without being too loud. It has a timer to allow it to run and then shut off or it can run continuously, but the thermostat has no markings to indicate desired temperature. I also find that it tends to cycle on an off frequently and somewhat unpredictably, as though when it runs it heats itself up and the thermostat shuts it off prematurely. It seems to work better when laid on its side rather than standing up.
Since I purchased it to prevent a room from getting too cold but actual temperature is not a major concern it is fine. If you are looking for a heater for a primary living space where accurate and consistent temperatures are desired, this may not be the unit for you.
VERY nice heater
I was almost convinced not to buy this, buy the other amazon reviews. My own experience differs greatly. I bought this during the Friday special for $30 and free shipping. The heater is large, so make sure you note the heightxwidthxdepth numbers. This isn't a cheap small heater like the 2 dozen at walmart. The heater is much better than others (cheap walmart type) I've used in the past. The ONLY annoying thing was the timer that made a noticeable time-bomb type of sound as it counted down. HOWEVER, after close examination I noticed that there is a setting that doesn't use the timer, that also rids the user of that annoying tick. So, that detractor is gone.
Another reviewer noted that it was loud and shaky on hardwood. I disagree 100%. I'm using it on hardwood, and get no vibrations at all. The only thing I hear is the white noise of the heater working. And its no louder or quieter than what I expect from any portable heater.
a very decent heater
This is a very decent header. The housing is big relative to the heating element. I got this unit at a very good price because it was featured in a Friday sale. The only complaint is the control; it is not intuitive or it is unnecessarily complicated. Normally, one would not need to consult the manual to understand the control for a simple heater.
