Frigid_out_West We purchased the EdenPure 1000XL directly from the manufacture, BioTech Research (Canton, OH). It took twice as long as we were told to arrive and the remote did not work right out of the box. Within five days the unit started turning off and not coming back on despite waiting for hours and room temperture dropping to the point the propane furnace came on. In order to get the unit to restart I had to turn the "power" button "off" and unplug the unit for anywhere from 5-20 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on. Only after our experience did I look further into online reviews of EdenPure products which are not favorable. I also checked into BioTech Research (Canton, OH) through the Ohio Better Business Bureau and saw that BioTech has had numerous complaints from customers with similar problems. Edenpure is a rip off per Consumer Reports Reported by: John Matarese Viewers have been asking me about a space heater advertised in newspapers and on Paul Harvey's radio show the past few weeks. It's the EdenPure space heater .... a heater so "advanced," it can supposedly cut your heating bill up to 50%.The cost: $400...four times the price of most heaters. Our partners at Consumer Reports magazine have tested it and other heaters. Is the EdenPure Amazing? The results of the test of the heavily advertised EdenPure were not promising. The $400 EdenPure ended up at the bottom of the ratings. It was the worst performing of 20 space heaters tested. Top Performing Heaters Top rated: The Honeywell Electric heater HZ-519, for just $60. (It's sold by Home Depot and Amazon.com, among other stores, but it may be in short supply, due to Consumer Reports' review. Honeywell makes some similar models wtihout the digital display that you may want to consider.) Also highly rated: The Holmes Quartz Tower, $60....and the DeLonghi SafeHeat Flat Panel, $80. No Better Than Other Space Heaters I purchased the edenpure 1000 and found that the main difference between it and other space heaters is price. I own several other space heaters including one 1500 watt unit with a fan and one 1500 watt oil filled radiator style heater. I can't tell any real difference in the heating ability of any of them except one thing...price. I purchased an oil filled radiant heater from Target for $28 which seems to do just as well as the edenpure which cost hundreds of dollars more. Not a good value.

Honeywell HZ-709 7 Fin Oil Filled Radiator Heater with Digital Controls

Honeywell HZ-709 7-Fin Oil Filled Radiator Heater with Digital Controls and Easy Set Controls.
Amazon Sales Rank: #8260 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Black Brand: Honeywell Model: HZ-709 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 28.02 pounds
The Honeywell digital oil-filled radiator is built from heavy-gauge steel for long-lasting performance and has a durable, rust-free enamel finish. Each metal fin is machine welded to ensure a leak-free operation and as an added feature, the oil in this portable heater never needs to be refilled or replaced. The temperature set function maintains your desired temperature making it even more user friendly and the three heat settings offer energy efficient heating options. A unique, front-mounted cord wrap allows easy off-season cord storage and the digital display clearly communicates heater settings. Additionally, back-lit controls provide visibility in the dark and four easy-glide casters make it easy to transport it from room to room. This heater also has a black finish with bright chrome accents for a clean, modern aesthetic. This radiator is backed by a 5-year limited warranty.
WOW! This heater really works!!!! The Honeywell HZ-709 comes very well packaged with solid styrofoam wrapped around the unit all inside a heavy duty cardboard box. When I opened mine I wasn't surprised that there wasn't a scratch on it. It comes with the radiator unit, four plastic casters, two brackets, two u-bolts, owners manual, and warranty card. There is basic tool-free assembly required to put on the casters, but its so easy a cave man could do it. The instructions to do this are also very easy to understand. Once the unit is assembled then it is time to plug it in. The digital settings are very easy to adjust with one power button and three two-way switches. One switch is for adjusting the thermostat, which can be set to the max of eighty five degrees fahrenheit. Another is for setting the power low (600 watts), medium (900 watts), and high (1500 watts). The last switch is for setting a hourly timer for shutting the unit off. The temperature switch can also be used to change from fahrenheit to celsius within the first few seconds of powering the unit on. Let me add that this unit is extremely silent, I had to check it a few times to make sure it was on. I purchased this heater a few weeks ago from Target after we got a blast of cold weather (hovering below and above freezing at night) for a couple of weeks because my home does not have central heat and air and I have about 20 space heaters of which none have ever made my house feel close to warm during the winter. I decided on this unit because it was the most expensive one so I figured it must work for that price and plus I had never tried a oil filled radiator style heater before. I am so glad I decided on this heater. This heater is in my bedroom which is roughly 700 square feet 26x26. I have a 52" ceiling fan which I set to low on the updraft setting. I tried to place the heater in the center of the room but the cord was too short, but I do have a pretty huge bedroom, so I just put it as far as it would go toward center from the wall outlet. I turned the heater on the highest power setting and highest temperature setting about 5:00pm on an evening that was going to drop below freezing. I have a thermometer on my night stand and the temp in the room read fifty nine degrees. By the time I went to sleep at around 10:00pm the temperature had already raised to seventy two degrees. When I woke up the next morning the temperature was seventy eight degrees. I was shocked!!! It was actually warm in my room. My wife was in shock too. What is amazing is that the unit itself is not extremely hot to the touch like quartz radiant heaters are, while it is still hot I don't feel like it is a fire hazard like quartz heaters are and I feel comfortable leaving it on all the time, even when I am not home. I am still a bit confused on how it does such a great job of heating but it really does. For the past two weeks I haven't been cold in my bedroom at all and I love this heater. It hasn't gone above seventy eight degrees in my bedroom, but I don't want it more than that anyway. It was definitely worth the money. I want to purchase 2 or three more of these units for the whole house now. I just wanted to update my review a little after a year that I wrote it. It went through another winter and kept us warm, I had since bought a couple more. Still very happy with the units. I had people ask about energy consumption and decided to put a formula on here so you could figure it out for yourself since it would be different for everyone: It is very easy to figure how any electrical device will affect your electric bill. Use the formula: Cost = (watts x hours used x rate per kwh) / 1000 So if you use the unit on high (1500 watts) for 12 hours a day at your electric company's kilowatt hour rate (mine is always changing but usually stays around .02 cents per kwh) then divide that number by 1000 you get your cost which would be: Cost = (1500 watts x 12 hours x 0.02 kwh charge) / 1000 = $0.36 cents per day or for 30 days: 30 x 0.36 = $10.80 You can use the formula for any electronic device in your home. Unreliable at best. I purchased this radiator at Target and it worked ok for about a month. After that the temperature setting malfunctioned and it wouldn't stay where I set it. It would overheat, sometimes getting to 90 degrees. This morning it must have shorted out and actually was on fire. Could be a faulty machine, but if the thermostat starts malfunctioning I'd return it right away. Quiet I just bought this unit from Target, and it is great. First of all, it is very quiet. The only noise is makes is the sound of oil percolating around in metal housing, which is actually soothing. It is powerful enough to heat our average size bedroom (about 15'x15') even on the lowest setting, and it is below freezing outside. It is really nice to have a thermostat. You can set it and it will keep your room at a constant temperature. The non-digital model is about $20 cheaper, but just get this one. I've used heaters with no thermostat, and you can never get it to hold constant at a nice temperature. You will wake up too hot or too cold. The Honeywell costs a little more than the cheap-o brand, but it is WELL worth it. The first radiator heater I bought was cheap-o from Walmart. It made a really loud electrical arcing noise every time it kicked on. It was loud enough to wake us up. It sounded like those weapons from War of the Worlds.

Works pretty well, not completely cool to the touch I got this for our 3-year-old daughter's room as for some reason she does not seem to like the sound of a radiant heater. It does a decent job of boosting the heat level in the room, which she needs because she tends to kick off her blankets during the night. I wouldn't rely on this alone to heat a room unless it was a very small room. The top and back do get hot, although you'd have to keep your skin in contact with it for several seconds to actually get burned; bumping into it should not cause any burns. I haven't noticed any odors or noises from it. DeLonghi TRH0715 As my wife and I are perfectionistic designers, sifting through the vast variety of the space heaters available on the market was some task. We finally decided on one which would provide a slow constant wamth versus the hot air bast-types such as heat fan elements, coil heaters, etc. resting on the idea of purchasing a radiated type. We read the reports on DeLonghi products in general which overall had been favorable. We made the decision to purchase the non-timer version of the TRH0715T, the TRH0715. Although slighlty less expensive, in hind sight I think we would've spent the extra money and got the timer version. We have still to recieve our electricity bill, but guess it much more economical than slappiing down $1,500 for heating oil. The two we purchased, heat our main floor nicely (1,300 sq. ft.), and is not too inconvient when moving heaters from room to room if/when necessary. The overall design is thoughtfully provided in the form of a stealth high-heat resistant plastic handle, 4 castor-roller type wheels, a cord wrap attachement, and aerodynamic heating fins. The heat is slow and constant and does not get "burning hot" like coil-element heaters (I still don't suggest touching it however). This was a good purchase and we feel very good about the price we paid. If you're looking for a non-avant garde designed heater which provides a good steady soft heat, this is the one! great heater, very quiet This little heater works well! The snap-down wheels made it very easy to install (no assembly required). The thermostatic variable control works well (unlike some others I have tried). Some reviewers reported smelling an oil or paint smell when they first turned it on, however, I did not have that issue at all. Since I only obtained my heater at the end of this years heating season, I haven't yet fully tested the high heat setting, but on the low setting, it kept my 20 x 14 foot room quite comfortable this spring. It makes no noise that I have been able to tell, except a very slight click when the heater turns on at the thermostat setting.

Optimus Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater
From Optimus Enterprises

The Optimus infrared quartz radiant heater provides instant sun-like warmth for fast focused spot heating. Energy-efficient unit has two heat settings and safety features. Heating Application: Portable, Zone Heating, Watts: 400 or 800, Thermal Cutoff Safety Device: Yes, Tip-Over Safety Switch: Yes

Better than the Soleus version Don't confuse these with those bright heaters that have bright, blinding yellow bulbs in them that burn out after 1 season or melt the heater's switches. These are the more reliable radiant heaters that glow a dim red-orange, & will last a few years. After being very happy with the Optimus radiant 9 inch dish (parabolic) heaters, I decided to try a couple of these & was not disappointed. They have a 400 & 800 watt setting. These disperse the radiant heat over a much wider angle than dish (parabolic) heater. Dish heaters concentrate most of their heat to a small area, like a chair, sofa, or bed rather than waste the heat all over the room. This heater spreads the heat out more when you need to heat a larger area than a small dish can. You save money because it feels warmer where the heater is pointed at instead of blowing heat all over the room, to the corners, under furniture, & up to the ceiling (heat rises). Radiant or reflective infrared heaters are also better in drafty rooms or ones with high ceilings where heat is normally lost. They are not intended to heat up a whole room nice & toasty... just the area you're at. However, an 800 watt infrared or reflective heat will eventually heat up a room just as fast & warm as any other 800 watt heater will, but you'll feel a lot warmer in front of it, & faster. The gas company keeps checking my meter thinking it's broke because my gas bills keep going down while everybody else's are going up. My electric bills are only 40-50% higher than in summer. $200-$300 per month in energy cost savings so far this year. Optimus Infrared Quartz Radiant Heater I really love radiant heaters and currently have 3 of them, I know the fans are necessary in order for the thermostats to work but hate the sound they make. Just the light sounds from a fan interfere with being able to hear the distant sounds outside the room. I know it is possible to make a super quiet fan but it is simply not done on the radiant heaters I've purchased. The little optimus only has 800 watts but the quiet operation is leading me to buy 2 more for the bedrooms, even though we have a natural gas furnace. David French Not very sturdy I got the Optimus Infrared Quarz Radiant Heater a few weeks ago and am happy, It gets the job done as advertised: it heats quickly and quietly my bedroom. The only drawback is that the material quality of the heater is pretty poor. You can tell that it won't last much-- it seems pretty fragile, made of low-quality plastic and having the grid and bulbs quite exposed without much protection. Also, the functions are quite basic: 400 or 800W (one or two bulbs) without having an actual temperature control. I might have preferred something a bit more expensive but with more control and possibly a timer for auto shut-off. Anyway, it is a good deal for around $25.

Wonderful when used properly (e.g. at night). After reading many of the reviews on Amazon, I purchased this delonghi heater. I can't be happier with its performance. I believe the more positive reviews are a result of using this heater as it was designed - to gradually maintain a slow heat in a small-mid sized enclosed room (say, 20x20 with 9' ceilings). If you want to quickly heat a large room with a blast of hot air, get something with a fan or turn up the thermostat. We use this heater at night. It does such an effective job of keeping our room at a comfortable 70F (even at lower settings), that we have programmed our central heat thermostat to go down to 60F at night. Of course, the effectiveness of the heater is also dependent on how well your house is insulated. There were some comments about the heater getting hot to the touch. Well, yes, of course it does - it's a heater! But even at it's highest setting, the metal is not sizzling. It is well insulated enough that you can touch it for a few seconds before it gets uncomfortable - plenty of time for the occasional times you may bump into it. At lower settings - this isn't even an issue. Why an oil-filled heater? It produces a very gentle heat without drying the air like a conventional ceramic or electric heater. Why the delonghi? Gentle heat without any sound. We purchased the Honeywell 7-Fin Oil-Filled Radiator Heater as well (they were out of stock of the delonghi), and while it heats fine, it creaks and cracks when you use it. I'm sure this is due to the metal expanding and contracting as it gets warmer and cooler. It's not a huge problem, but if you are a light sleeper, it may be an annoyance. The only downside I can think of is the wheels. Doesn't roll well on carpet - which is fine, we don't' move it much anyway. But overall, love the delonghi. We've had it for 2 weeks now and I hope it lasts this way for several years. Heater review Heater was bought for child's room. It seems safe and works well. The comfort temp feature was slightly misleading due to the fact that we thought we could change the thermostat on that function. Instead you can use the number thermostat that goes from 0 to 5. I guess we thought we could set the temperature to a degree like 68. Other than that we like it and we feel that it is safe for our child's bedroom. We will see how it is on the electric bill this Winter. Horrible Warranty from DeLonghi I bought two (2) DeLonghi EW7707CM Oil-Filled radiators. Both work fantastically-well, however one of them has started leaking - after less than a month of use. I e-mailed Delonghi, told them what the issue was and now they say I have to send the product to "the nearest service center listed on our website under the customer service tab" which is almost 400 miles from my house and I AS THE CUSTOMER have to pay for shipping to this far-flung service center. Ridiculous! It would cost almost as much in shipping as I bought it for ($49.95 through amazon) because of the weight and size of the unit. Great product (when it isn't leaking oil), very very poor warranty. Buy from a more reputable company!!!

Best personal heater I've ever used! This inexpensive little personal heater has a lot of great features that you don't find with other models in the same price range. First of all, in addition to the high-low setting that most heaters have, there is also a specific thermostat setting that lets you choose amongst five different temperatures (I believe the degree choices are 60-65-70-75-80). Secondly, the heater is self-adjusting, so once the room reaches the desired temperature, the heater turns off, only to come back on if the temperature dips back down. This heater has a nice swivel feature which allows you to angle it in different directions without having to move the entire unit. Finally, it is one of the smallest, quietest, most lightweight space heaters you will find! I use it in my basement exercise room, where it works perfectly, but it would also be great for bedrooms, offices, and other small rooms. Highly recommended!!! Holmes HFH416 heater Best space heater ever! We bought ours in 2000 and it still going strong. Best hot air penetration into the space of any space heater we've owned. We later bought a model# HFH2986, but it's heat was not as robust as the 416. Highly recommended. Great heater at an inexpensive price On the night that the temperature dipped to 19 degrees, my furnace cut out. We were in a bind on a very cold night, so I quickly checked Lowes and compared the heaters they had to the reviews on Amazon. I needed a heater immediately so could not wait to have one sent to me. I decided to take a chance on this little heater even though, at the time, there were only two reviews on it (but each giving it five stars). We made a trip to Lowes and came home with three of these little nuggets and I have to tell you, I was shocked at the performance. I have had much more expensive heaters that did not do the job this does. One heater will heat a small room (approximately 10X12) with no problem. I purchased three and they heated One large room and two smaller ones; all with open spaces. The thermostats don't seem to be accurate as someone mentioned, but I didn't care, it helped me out of a bad spot, and at a bargain price. I would highly recommend this product.

heat mate or 78 kerosene heater heater works well , very little odor when adjusted the right way, uses more fuel than quoted, i get about 9 to 10 hours on full tank, seems to be good quality, another review says item is made in japan, mine is clearly marked made in china, item was on sale then i got another 30.00 off, for the 51.00 paid i think i got a great deal. want to edit review, have used heater for 3 months now with no burning wick dry, took heater apart wick was pristine and white no tar or char. i have 4 other kerosene heaters that need wick dry burned once a month, this tells me that this heater burns cleaner than my others. want to upgrade my rating to highest number heater is very good design. Quality portable Kerosene Heater If you're looking for a small space heater for a garage, shop, or deck, this will do the job nicely. Very good quality Japanese construction (not Chinese) and simple foolproof operation. I use mine in a small shop and it works perfectly and silently taking up very little space. It didn't want to light-up..... I received it in good speed & condition... built like a tank! I put it all together... very simply done. I wasn't ready to light-up, so I let it sit a few days (the cost of kerosene was somewhat of a shock... 5 gal can. $35 or $7/gal.) I filled the tank... it was very easy using the siphon pump supplied and let it sit for 60 mins. before trying to light it. I raised the wick, etc. per directions, pushed the "ignite" button... nothing happened... I pulled-out the wick a little, per inst., to help get the wick lit... no luck. I finally resorted to the Match method... short wooden matches are TOO SHORT... had to use the long 12" wooden matches... after two tries, it lit! It began burning at optimum performance, 1st thing!! Generated some good heat... smelled a little of kerosene, but NOT too bad. After a few minutes, I turned it off... went smoothly. It now awaits colder weather to warrant lighting-up again... this time to keep my avocado tree from freezing!! I think it will serve its purpose nicely, even if I have to use matches from now on... (we shall see). It is a quality unit... very well built and is SAFE to operate. Thank you, Joe Lyddon

No problem here! I've been using this heater for several years and have had no problems whatsoever. About 1/2 the heat is radiant, the other half is hot air rising from the unit. It will burn for 12 to 14 hours before having to refill its 1-gallon removable tank. During this time, it emits no smell at all. The heat adjustment range is from 90% to 100% - like any kerosene heater, it is not safe to try to turn it down below this range. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the electric lighter bulb burns out too easily - it is like a flashlight bulb without the glass bulb - when you press the igniter, the bulb's glowing filament presses against the wick, igniting it - if the wick doesn't break the filament. In this case, a long wand butane lighter works just fine. It is true that the very first time a kerosene heater is lit, it will stink. Once the burner has come up to operating temperature for the first time, the metal parts become annealed and ready for use. If the other reviewer lit it for the first time indoors, not knowing this, it would have been a very unpleasant surprise. The first time should be outdoors. After that, you can take it inside. Very nice and good heat. I bought this heater for my bedroom. When it arrived I unpacked it and there was a small dent on the edge of the case. It should be packed in another box instead of shipping it in the original packaging. Those Shipping Companies throw these boxes around loading and unloading to put on the delivery trucks. The first night it was smelly. The next night the smell was gone. It burns clean now and uses very little kerosene. Light it outside the first time. It says in the directions that there is an oil that takes three to four hours to burn off. It will heat up to four rooms at night. It throws out plenty of heat. The other guy that wrote that it smelled probably used the wrong type of kerosene or just didn't know how to use it. Believe me it is well worth the money. Use only K-1 kerosene Great if you live near point of shipping This is a good product as far as heaters go but I must say I'm pretty disappointed with Amazon and Ace Hardware. If you live in Canada it's not worth it. The product cost $119.00 which I thought was a fair price. I knew I'd have to pay some shipping costs, it ended up being about $100 more, which I thought was steep but I was still willing to pay because I had read it was a good product. Once the product arrived I had to pay another $45 in duty fees, which I expected was an included part of the exhorbitant shipping costs. Bottom line - $119 product, paid $270. I'm totally dissatified with my purchase.

This thing is a piece of junk I bought this product today at Wal-Mart. I should have had a clue when there were a *lot* of them on a clearance shelf at half off. I got the heater home and out of the box. It worked at first but then quit working the minute I turned it off and then back on again. (I moved it from one outlet to another in the same room). From the other reviews I've read about it, this is a common occurrence. Unfortunately, I didn't read the reviews until AFTER I went all the way back to the store to exchange it for the same thing. Now, I have the second one and it quit working after I turned it off for a little while. It actually works quite well when it starts up, which is why I turned it off after a while. But try turning it back on -- forget it. This product wasted more time and gas money than it was worth, in my opinion. Like everyone is saying: it doesn't work The heater works for all of 10 seconds before shutting down. The fan works fine but the heater is dead on arrival. Piece of Junk! This is a Piece of Junk!!!!! Fan works great, but heater cuts off just as it gets warm and wont cut back on. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!!!!

Be aware! I received this item only to find that it is only a heater, not a heater and humidifier like is advertised. Be aware of this mistake in the product descriptions if you are thinking of buying this product. WTF!!??!?? Come on, man! Damn. If I had known it was only a heater and not a humidifier, I'd have chosed one of the other hundreds of gizmos that are only heaters. I got this one specifically because of the humidifier feature. Holmes HQH307 Tower Quartz Heater
From Holmes

Tall quartz tower heater that combines the best of both worlds. Two pure quartz tubes deliver instant radiant heat that feels like the sun. A MaxFlow fan pushes heat further into the room. Comfort control thermostat lets you adjust the heat to precisely what you want.
Amazon Sales Rank: #28200 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Clay Brand: Holmes Model: HQH307 Number of items: 1 Dimensions: 24.57" h x 10.04" w x 13.98" l, 9.19 pounds
Bask in instant penetrating heat with this large floor heater. Thanks to its patented MaxFlow fan system, the heater radiates immediate warmth without causing a draft, and because the case is slightly angled back, the heat is projected up and outward to warm an entire room. Two quartz elements glow red, alerting users that the front grill is hot and should not be touched. The heater can be set to low power (750 watts) or high (1500 watts), and the thermostat adjusted to a personal comfort level. At lower settings, the heater will cycle on and off to maintain the desired temperature. If accidentally knocked over or if overheating occurs, the heater instantly turns off. Despite measuring a generous 23 by 12 by 9 inches, the heater is lightweight and easily carried by one hand. Holmes covers this heater with a 6-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri
Great for small spaces, but noisy This unit does a good job heating up my small office (measuring about 10'x12') rather quickly, and its thermal control keeps the room in a comfortable temperature by turning the unit on and off automatically. The unit radiates heat over a pretty large area (with a small fan helping push the hot air out front). This means that it probably will do a good job keeping you warm in a larger space as well, as long as it's placed closeby. My only complaint is the noise. The unit makes a rather loud rattling noise when its heating elements turn on, which lasts about 10-15 seconds. The fan is reasonably quiet in the low setting, but can be distracting when on high. I certainly wouldn't put one of these in the bedroom. I only buy radiant heaters I have this radiant heater and 2 similar models. They are all noisy for about 15 seconds when they turn on. I suggest running it on low in small rooms so it does not cycle on and off. I buy this type of heater for 2 reasons. 1. I find that forced air heaters dry out the air, which irritates by allergies. 2. The biggest reason is that my cats LOVE laying in front of these heaters for hours. The heater gives off a glow which feels like you are sitting in the sun. I have been using them for years without any safety issues, just use common sense. Warm Heat Quickly This heater does a great job. One of the advantages of thisheater, the coils are built into the heater at an angle sothe floor does not get hot. Very durable.

Amazon Sales Rank: #25069 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Black Brand: Bionaire Model: BFH5000-UM Dimensions: 24.56" h x 9.25" w x 33.07" l,
For instant warmth plus ambiance, this electric fan heater features realistic glowing logs and embers for the beauty of a fireplace without the hassle of cut wood, an open fire, propane, or fumes. The unit requires no installation and can be placed in any room with its sturdy floor stand or wall-mounted with the included hardware. Simply plug it in and turn it on. Heat emanates from vents below the glass, quickly heating up the room, and the realistic flame effect can function with or without the heat. Push-button controls and an easy-to-read programmable digital display makes it effortless to operate. The unit's thermostat allows for setting the fireplace to a comfortable temperature, while its 12-hour on-off timer can be set to preheat a room or to automatically turn the heater off after a specified amount of time. In addition, the unit's remote control works great for adjusting the temperature from across the room. Safety features include tip-over protection and overheat protection, which automatically turn the heater off if it accidentally gets knocked over or starts to overheat. With its sleek modern design, the fireplace heater measures 31-1/4 by 4 by 23-7/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
A GREAT fireplace !! Get THIS one !! This fireplace is OUTSTANDING!! A truly First-class product. It's well worth the money. It even comes with a remote control unit, which I don't think was mentioned in the advertisement. The other so-called "fireplaces" shown are very inferior to this one. The Bionaire is the ONLY way to go! Bionic fireplace space heater Even though it doesn't look like a tradtional fireplace, I still like it. It fits just about anywhere without taking up a lot of space. I don't like that it doesn't have life like flames; it's just a glowing, moving background. I bought it mainly because it has a REMOTE CONTROL!!! That is a wonderful feature! It has three stages of glowing brightness, which is great. I don't like the sound that is supposed to be crackling wood, but when I lower the sound, it sounds better and more like a crackling fireplace. It's easy enough to carry up to the bedroom, den, basement, wherever you want to put it. Just plug it into any outlet; but because it's 1500 wats, you mustn't have anything else plugged into the same socket outlet. I would recommend it to anyone. I never write reviews, so you know I must like this product. Enjoy! Absolutely awesome! I saw this product in Bed, Bath and Beyond, and fell in love with it instantly. After bringing it home, I loved it even more. The heat is awesome...I have to keep it at the lowest setting because of the intense heat it throws at a higher setting. It's just amazing. I keep the "crackling" sound at the lowest, and it is such a soothing sound. My husband fell asleep on the couch about 15 minutes after it was plugged in and turned on. It looks beautiful and heats fantastic...what more could you want from an electric heater?? I love it, and would recommend it to anyone!

Match your Mr Heater with the right Accessories I've been fumbling, stumbling, and bumbling along trying to obtain the "right" combination of MR HEATER items to allow me to use their BIG BUDDY product. I strongly suggest that you decide on which heater you want, then go to www.mrheater.com and pull up the web page for that heater. Find the FAQ section for that heater. Read through the "problems" very closely. You will find there are valid reasons for those problems to occur. MR HEATER explains and provides solutions to those problems in the FAQ. One thing, in my humble opinion, is missing in the descriptions ~ If you are using larger than 20-lb tanks, you may need a "regulator" to control the pressure from the tank to your heater or other small appliance. Check with MR HEATER Tech Support before you run into problems. Be patient and be very clear about your setup. Everyone I have contacted has been very helpful and responsive to my questions. MR HEATER also provides information on the SAFETY RECALL situation with a possible solution on what to do with replacing a faulty heater. Good heater, but kind of finicky. I don't agree with some of the reviews. I don't see that it's a fire hazard at all. My Big Buddy was delivered last week. Here's what I found: My elevation in Virginia, About 800 feet Ambient temperature, 72.8 (in my house). Outside temp 29.0 1. Running on high on ONE Disposable Cylinder caused unit shutdown after 50 minutes. (Pilot started to flicker, cut out and then gas shut down). Single bottle was covered with ice (I assume that's bad...) 2. Running on TWO Disposable Cylinders got me the balance of three hours smoothly and well. 3. No fumes observed at all. Some moisture, but cracking the window an inch kept it under control. 4. A lot of heat. Too much for my wood floor. I had to put it on my brick mantle. This might scorch tile. 5. It kept my upstairs (1000 square feet) at 72.5. Only a loss of 0.3 degrees over three hours. Better than expected. Suggestion: If you are trying to run on high with disposables, use two of them. This is not in the manual. I don't know how it works with tanks, or whether you need to feed one or both inputs. My unit did not come with the AC adapter. The batteries work. If you bump it gently, it shuts off. Conclusion: For 139 bucks, it fits the bill well enough. It appears to be very well made, but the safety features make it tempermental. For my use as an emergency heat source, it's adequate. Great heater when simple precautions followed. I was concerned when I purchased this unit. There are a number of highly negative reviews on it. However, on further research, I have discovered that the circumstances leading to those reviews could have been avoided. When one uses this heater with a 20 lb propane bottle & accessory hose, it is imperative that you always shut the tank off first & let the heater run until it burns off all the fuel in the lines. *** IT IS IMPERATIVE TO FOLLOW THIS PROCEDURE *** If one simply turns the heater knob to the off position, it will trap trap 100 PSI of propane in the accessory hose. When high pressure propane sits in the rubber hose, it will chemically react with the rubber and leetch a light oil. The oil will build up and quickly work its way into the heater, clogging both the regulator & control valve. Another very important recommendation is to purchase the gas line filter. This will catch the oily residue and protect the combustion components of the heater should one forget to follow the precautions above. Keeping these precautions in mind, one will be able to enjoy a very well-build and flexible-use portable heater.

SunTwin Quartz Infrared Portable Office Heater Can Save You Big This Winter !
From EP

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! There are problems with this product, and I advised Edenpure immediately. It arrived last Friday and I commenced using it. The first problem is that it emits some type of fumes, and in addition it is drying out the air in the living room so severely, that it is both triggering my asthma and causing me to have severe throat irritation. Keep in mind that my "house" electric heating system (which I am not currently running) is forced air electric in the walls, and in ten years that forced air heat has never caused the kind of drying of the air that this product caused in running for one evening. The second problem is that it pulls so much electrical current it trips the circuit breakers. These are not breakers which have any so-called major appliances on them, or anything which resembles same. I found one circuit it does not trip because there is only a small 25 watt lamp on it. And yet when I turn their heater up into the red colored range, that small lamp actually dims because the current pull from their heater is so great. My house is not old and there is nothing unusual about the wiring or the breakers. This heater is obviously not energy efficient in any way, looking at the amount of current it draws. I have used liquid oil filled radiant heaters that are much lower wattage than this thing, much smaller, use almost no current, and put out far superior heat, and above all do not represent a health and fire risk. All of these effects are counter to what Edenpure advertises that their heater does. The product is not going to be useable to me because of these issues. It is obviously not in any way what it is sold as. I would never have purchased this heater if I had been aware of these issues. The icing on the cake is that Edenpure takes a 15% restocking fee on ALL returned merchandise regardless of the reason, and I will have to pay my own return shipping. In fact in completing the online RMA request to authorize a return, the customer is forced under duress to put their initials in a box saying they accept the 15% restocking fee policy, before the company will even consider issuing a return authorization. I could not be unhappier with this product or this company. It will no doubt cost me a hundred dollars in combined return shipping plus their "restocking fee" to send this useless piece of junk back. I plan to report them to all of the authorities I can think of after that, for false advertising. Raises your electric bill not the temperature. I received this item as a gift from my grandparents who had heard about it on Paul Harvey. Due to the high costs of oil for winter heating, they were concerned about the expense and had bought several units for their children and grand children. Even though our home uses an electric furnace, not oil, we decided to try out the unit for the two-month billing period. Despite switching to compact fluorescent lights and a tank-less water heater at the same time, our power bill went up by 25%. Now, after going back to our regular electric furnace and not using this heater, our power bill is 60% lower than the previous period. This reflects a 35% decline from the switch to more efficient appliances/lighting, compared to last years usage for the period, and a 25% decline from not using the infrared heater. My guess about why these heaters are so inefficient relates to the cabinet design, inexpensive thermostat, and power demand. Since heated air running through ducts provides an even level of heat and thermostat controls are accurate, they turn on periodically and distribute heat effectively. This unit, even with the thermostat, would run constantly and only heat areas directly hit by the fan-blown air. Since this heater uses 1500 watts of electricity, about 200 watts less than our electric furnace, it is more expensive and less effective than ducted heat. I caution anyone in purchasing this heater for anything other than emergency use with a generator capable of running it because the expense and inefficiency will hit your pocket book and living space comfort. Combat the agony of leaving a hot shower for the chilly household air with a blast of warmth from this heater. From industry leader, Vornado, the fan heater oscillates to spread heat through out the room in no time at all. Best used as an enhancement to a heating system, separate use of the fan heater also provides comfort in the fall and spring months during cool mornings and evenings. Small rooms, up to 12 by 12 feet in size, benefit most from the application of the quiet fan heater. The electronic heater features a convex grill format to allow air to flow most ably. The fan's grill and cabinet stay cool as heat emits from the protected non-glowing heat element. With three power settings for varying needs, the fan heater runs at 1500 watts and 800 watts. The fan can also run with no heat to circulate air in hotter weather. Equipped with automatic comfort control technology, users enter an ideal temperature and the heating appliance automatically adjusts the output to obtain and maintain this level. To ensure safety, the heater cuts power upon tipping over, or if the heater should overheat. For safe operation, read the manufacturer guidelines and instructions thoroughly prior to use. The USA-made heater is covered under a limited one-year warranty. This unit weighs 5 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling
Don't let the 1 star reviews dissuade you... I recently moved into a house that had an exceptional heating system except in the master bedroom (probably due to a large French door). Didn't see the logic in heating the whole empty house just to keep one room warm, I started to look for a suitable heater. Upon some search, Vornado DVH surfaced as a viable option. Although pricier than other models, if it did what it claims to do (even warmth, quietness, safe to kids' touch, and good control) I thought the product would be ideal for my family needs. While searching for the best price, I came to read the ratings by others on the Amazon site, and it was disturbing for me to see that there was a noticeable disparity among the raters (please look through the reviews and see for yourselves-5 to 1 star). But it sounded great at least for those who had them in working condition, so I decided to give it a try, knowing that there is a chance that I might get the bad apple. Well, I have been using the unit for a while now and I have to tell you that it is worth MORE than its weight in gold!!! It is quite; temperature control is dead accurate; heating is impressively even throughout the room; and it really doesn't get hot at all to the touch; and even looks cool. I have occasional circuit breaker tripping when I use hair drier in the bathroom connected to the same room, but Vornado has not tripped the circuit not even once, even though I usually have it run at 78F when I use it (basically all night). I'm sure others' claims on defective products are valid. But if you are unsure whether to give it a try because of those reviews like I was a few weeks ago, I strongly recommend you give this product a try. Even if you end up with a defective product like others claim, if you can get a good one after exchange (and get something like what I got), it is worth the trouble-and believe me I'm an extremely lazy person when it comes to product exchanges...I only write this review because I wished that I had something like this to help my decision making. Hope it helps you. perfect for basement apartments! I live in a basement apartment in Washington DC. The winters here get pretty cold and I do not have control of the heater. The landlord upstairs controls the heat (and they are rarely home). I plugged this heater into my front room. The room measures 20x25'. The temperature gage intially read 58 degrees! Wow that's cold. I set the digital temperature gage to 72 degrees. It initially took about an hour to reach that temperature (I think the electronics needed to be broken in). This little heater has been plugged in and running nonstop, 24 hours a day, for the past three weeks and it is nothing short of spectacular! I positioned the heater at one corner of the apartment and it heats the entire room and keeps every corner of the room at the same temperature. Since it has a plastic casing, it is constantly cool-to-the-touch and I have no reservation with leaving it on when I leave in the morning to go to work. The unit *never* gets hot. I thought $100 was a bit expensive for a heater, but wow... this purchase has been justified. I also have a humidifier (by Bionaire) running on a 24-hour basis to prevent the room from becoming too dry. The temperature gage on the heater is spectacular. You really can tell the difference between 70 and 72 degrees with this heater. It's fabulous. Nothing short of fabulous. The Best Electric Heater Out There! The Digital Vortex Heater is wonderful! We have a drafty attic office in our home, which has been impossible to heat. We've gone through at least 3 different heaters (all under $50) with no luck. We decided to try the Vornado Digital because of "how" it heats. With other heaters, the room never really got warm. As long as you sat or stood directly in front of the electric heater, you were freezing. With the Vornado Digital heater, it warms the entire room by circulating the heat. And believe me, no matter what other says, it works! The only drawback, is it does take (depending on the size of the room, how cold it is outside, and how drafty the room is) some time to heat up the room. For the attic office space we have, it's about a 20' by 20' space. It warms up the room in about 20 mins, depending on how cold it is outside. BUT, once it's warm, it stays warm! The internal thermostat on the Vornado Digital works quite well. We actually have to turn it down or off after a while, because it gets so warm. I have been noticing after a few weeks of use, that it seems to warm up faster. So maybe there was a break-in period it had to go through, I can't be sure. Although, it does seem to work better after a little use. We tried several different heaters from several different manufacturers, and the Vornado was by far the best at warming a room, and keeping it warm! Is this heater the kind of heater that pumps out direct HOT air? No. If you want a heater that is just going to be pointed at you to keep you warm, this might not be the heater for you. But if you want a heater that will heat up a room and keep it warm, with soothing warm air, there is no other heater better for the price! Again, it's most amazing feature being that is circulates the air throughout the room. Just for the feature alone I am satisfied, because I feel that's the secret to correctly heating a space. The only downfall being, that it takes some time to do it. My suggestion is to at the very least, try the Vornado Digital. I purchased it from the Vornado website for $100.00, but I suggest going through Amazon to save on shipping. I think you'll be happy you tried it!

Amazon Sales Rank: #2030 in Kitchen & Housewares Color: Black Brand: Indus-Tool Model: TT Dimensions: 5.00" h x 13.50" w x 17.50" l, 5.00 pounds
For soothing warmth to cold feet and legs, this footrest delivers gentle radiant heat using less than 100 watts of power for energy-efficient operation. Its portable compact design means it can be used at home on the weekends as well as placed under a desk at work during the week. The versatile unit offers adjustable heat and three different positions in one easy-to-use design. Use it as an ergonomic footrest to help improve seating posture at work, or quickly convert it to a flat heated floor mat or to a vertical heated panel. Plus, it's safer than a space heater. There are no fans or blowers, no carbon monoxide risk, and it's never too hot to touch--which makes it safe around kids and pets. Other highlights include a safety switch that prevents overheating, a 6-foot AC power cord, and an elegant black-on-black embossed design that matches any decor. Made of molded hard plastic, the 90-watt ETL-listed heated footrest measures 12 by 18 by 5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
It does the job Easy to set up & use, and it keeps feet nice & warm. I give it 4 instead of 5 stars because (a) it's made of hard plastic that's a bit uncomfortable after a while on bare or stocking feet, and (b) it's a bit overpriced. It's just a piece of injection-molded plastic with a small heating element... should be more like $40. It has 3 heat settings: off, foot-warmer, and radiant-panel. Haven't tried the panel setting, but the foot-warmer setting is nice. Would be better if there were more of a range of settings (foot-warm-low, foot-warm-high), and for the price I'd kinda expect this. A good feature is the angled base: when sitting in a chair and stretching your feet out to it, the angle is comfortable on the ankles. I put mine on a plug-in timer: no need to consume 90 watts 24/7, I only run it from 2PM to midnight. In summary, despite the omission of a few minor features and being slightly pricey, I'm glad I got it and I would recommend it to anyone looking to end cold feet under their desk. F*ck you winter I should have bought one of these 4 years ago. I tend to spend much of my free time at my computer(especially in the winter). I used to wrap my feet in blankets, although that is more energy efficient than this it would take so long for them to warm up. With Toasty Toes I turned it on and within a few minuets I have warm feet, and about 15 mins later they are really warm. I wear a size 11.5US shoe(mens) and my feet this with about 1 inch to spare. If your feet are bigger than mine there is plenty of room on the sides to angle your feet so they do fit; heck right now I'm warming my feet and drying off my shoes that got wet in the rain today. If you are really cheap you could turn your heat way down and sit across from your roommate and both of you could share one of these. The only con. The plastic doesn't feel super thick so I'm going to return the hammer I bought for putting this through a durability test. Buy it. Cold Floors No Longer a Problem I spend long hours at my computer and I keep my apartment at around 58 degrees. The floors however are cold and I wanted a heated foot pad or foot rest to warm my feet and legs. The Toasty Toes Heated Footrest fulfilled my needs perfectly; the price was right and the unit is economical to operate.

For soothing warmth to cold feet and legs, this 225-watt unit functions as both a footrest and a personal space heater. Its ergonomic design helps promote good posture when sitting by elevating the knees, while little surface bumps create a passive foot massage and three larger bumps down the sides make it possible to enjoy a deeper massage. In addition to making feet happy and delivering heat in the colder months, the unit also comes equipped with a fan for cooling airflow all year long. Choose from high heat, low heat, or fan only. Its portable compact design means it can be used at home on the weekends as well as placed under a desk at work during the week. Safety features include overheat protection, a reset fuse, and automatic shut-off after four hours for peace of mind and energy savings. With its low wattage consumption and whisper-quiet operation, the heated footrest measures 11-7/8 by 13-3/4 by 5-7/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
Time for toasty toes Sitting on my cold feet was doing nothing for my circulation or my posture. My husband gave me this heated footrest for a birthday present and it's one of the best gifts I've gotten (well, except for the kitten that one year) to keep my feet warm. The angled footrest insures good posture at your desk, which also helps with back and body fatigue. The nubby, bumpy surface helps with a passive massage and I think may even help with circulation. The heater doesn't get precisely hot even on the warmest temps, but used while wearing socks, it does keep my feet warm and comfortable even on the coldest days. One feature I really like is the 4 hour safety shut-off. No worries about whether I turned the heater off or not and that makes me feel better about using it. One thing about Vornado products overall is that they last. We have fans still in use that we purchased 10 years ago. A space heater from last year is still giving good service when another more powerful model from another manufacturer has not held up. Vornado does not make throw-away products. Bless them for that in this economy! Rebecca Kyle, January 2009 It's grown on me If I had rated this when it first arrived, it would have been a three star item. After having warm feet for a while, four stars seems reasonable as there really is only one negative to the Vornado SoleAire. That negative - the fan in the heater is much louder than it needs to be. My computer sits on top of the desk (away from dust bunnies) and is MUCH quieter than the SoleAire sitting under the desk despite the computer having 6 fans and multiple hard drives running all the time. If Vornado had chosen a slightly larger, slower running blower fan, the SoleAire could have been very nearly silent. At least the noise from their smaller, faster fan is white noise instead of mechanical racket. I've not used the SoleAire on the fan only mode since it's still chilly but if you are not warm enough sitting at your desk, you should give this product a try (especially if you can get it for half price - that's where it really shines). Sturdy little space heater I work in a small office with the worst climate control; parts of the office will easily be freezing while others are incredibly hot. Unfortunately, I sit in an area that is always cold. I was looking for a compact, low-powered heater to help in my area and after much searching, I decided on this product. At first I had reservations about the Vornado Soleaire because I didn't want a footrest...I wanted a heater, but since I wasn't able to find anything else that met my needs, I thought I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did. The Soleaire provides a nice, low-powered heat right underneath my desk that keeps me warm, without making other areas of the office uncomfortable. In fact, most people don't even know I have it on underneath my desk. It's relatively quiet and with all the hustle and bustle doing on the in the office you barely notice it (although it is noticeable when I'm the only one in the office, but I don't mind). The biggest complaint I have is that the on/off switch and heat controls aren't as convenient as I'd like. It'd be great if you could turn it on/off easily with you foot instead of having to crawl under your desk to look. I've also noticed a few times that I've accidentally hit the heat switch with my foot and the air came out cold. Overall, I think this is a great product for anything needing temperature control over their personal space.

worked great - until the waranty expired I got this heater a year ago at Ace for about $40. I liked the thermostat, high and low settings, and the additional fan setting (to use in the summer or just when I want a bit of white noise at night to drown out the neighbors). The heater worked great for a year, and then died after smelling of smoke. The 1 year warranty is just recently expired. The customer service reps haven't bothered to respond to my e-mail. I know that at $40 this isn't the most expensive heater on the market, but I expect it to last longer than a year at light to moderate use. I replaced it with a different brand. Pelonis HF-0019 heater does not turn off properly! A friend gave me one of these small space heaters to help heat my drafty old apartment, but it does not turn off properly. I have to unplug it in order to turn it off! I emailed Pelonis customer service twice about this issue and they never bothered to respond. I do not recommend it because it does not turn off in a safe manner and Pelonis obviously has poor customer service. Best small space heater I have found I bought 2 of these heaters 2 years ago at about $32 a piece. I also bought a Vornado VH2 for about $30 more. The Pelonis units have been perfect, they out perform the Vornado hands down. The themostat control works really well staying within 2 degrees of the setting. They were used in a house in upstate New York in 2 bedrooms with no other heat source and are able to maintain 68 easily. I highly recommend them and will purchase another 2.

Good Energy Efficient Zone Heating We use these heaters as a source of energy efficient heating for over 4 years now at our inn. They have an adjustable feature that supplies electricity to the silicone filled element to produce heat and then cut off the power when the silicone fluid gets hot. This feature saves energy. We also benefit from only heating those areas we want to keep warm by using zone versus central heat. We bought them to reduce our usage of the central propane hot air furnace and have saved money by only heating areas needed and reducing propane usage. They also help keep our yurts comfortable in the winter. Wonderful Heater This heater is great! We bought it for our large sun room, which has no heat and lots of glass. It heats up the room very quickly and quietly (no noise at all). It is very safe for our grandchildren and dogs. It is stylish and solidly built. Our guests do not even know a heater is in the room. We highly recommend this product. This product has a gel that heats up inside the heater and stays warm after the heater is turned off. There are no cons to this heater tht we can see, just pros! Fahrenheat Heater #LFP6152 This heater works well for the 10x15 room which we use it in. It automatically adjusts the dual stage power to maintain the desired temperature. We're very pleased with its performance and its very reasonable price.

Must be a lot of lemons in the bunch Bought this heater at my local hardware store before reading these reviews. Sounds like they either work or they don't. My didn't. I brought it home, took it out to the garage (about 35º F out there today), plugged it in and waited about an hour to see if it would warm up. Despite being on the highest setting and having the thermostat on it cranked, the heater barely put out any heat. It was level and stable, but the only heat I could feel from it was from about two inches away, and that felt like a hair dryer on the lowest setting (and that's being generous). I returned it. I'm sure some of these heaters really get the job done, but I can't imagine that mine was functioning properly, and it sounds like a common problem. Light came on, fan whirred away (a little) but barely any heat came out. My halogen work light put out more heat at three feet away. Find another heater. Works great--until it doesn't I was so happy with this heater, at first. It had good heat output, was incredibly quiet, and produced no chemical odor after a couple hours of use. However, within two weeks, it stopped working. Even the fan won't come on. The only sign of life is the indicator light. Sigh. Best electric heater This is the best inexpensive electric heater, first, you can select 600 Watts, 900 Watts, or 1500 Watts to warm up the room quickly. Once the room warms up you can select 600 watts which is very economical. Finally, it has a metal case. Metal will not burn or melt as the plastic heaters do. For some reason people seem to think that ceramic is best, however, the ceramic heaters are housed in a plastic case. If the fan stops running while the heater is turned on, then the heater will seriously overheat. These heater depend on a thermostatic fuse to turn off the power when serious overheating occurs. With a metal case you can be assured that the case is not going to melt or burn up. Larry

Not pretty but "Great little heater!" As the title says...not pretty but "Great little heater!" Can't even find this at dept. stores, Amazon is the best place to get everything you could possibly need or want. This heater heats up a whole room in no time time at all. Great on cold nights and mornings. I tend to use it most in the bathroom on chilly mornings. Has an auto safety shut-off and thats important. Great price compared to some others that don't work as good and I think the best of these small space heaters to do it's job. Great heater This works great in a bedroom. Just close the door and it keeps the room warm all day. In a larger area it works great too, just sit closer to it. Patton 1500W Heater Patton PUH680-U 1500W Electric Utility Heater. Coleman 5034-729 Heater, SurvivalCat Catalytic 800 BTU
From Coleman

Heater, SurvivalCat Catalytic 800 BTU
Amazon Sales Rank: #229929 in Sports & Outdoors Brand: Coleman Model: 5034A729 Dimensions: 3.28 pounds

Heater works fine Had to post a review since the previous one missed the point. This heater is not designed to heat a large area. It is a personal heater. You have to read the instructions; lighting it (especially in high winds etc) might prove tricky. Don't use this in a tightly enclosed tent; you have to provide a 3" x 3" air vent. Mine lit right away and provided the perfect amount of heat; not too much and not too little. Any more and I would be afraid to use it inside a tent (we've all heard the stories). Any less, and I would be back to using a candle lantern (1 btu just does not cut it in really cold weather). Use with caution While SurvivalCat can produce minimal comfort in an emergency, it is necessary to let the unit burn for at least 5 minutes outside to eliminate oderous exhaust emitions and heat up fully. While catalytic heaters produce minimal CO2, they deplete oxygen, and some venting is important for fresh oxygen. The kit is basic survival only. The valve system is somewhat confusing at first. The wire stand is difficult to use. For pleasure camping I would choose a more expensive unit. Coleman SurvivalCat-How about that!!! I bought the Coleman SurvivalCat Heater and used it in my pop-up blind with outstanding success. It's compact design makes it easy to carry and the amount of heat it put out inside the blind was amazing. Outside was in the mid-20's and inside was probably around 50. With the clothing I had on, it was very comfortable.

Noisy and poorly made We have two heaters that have this blower (pre-installed from the factory). Within 3 years, one has been replaced twice and the other replaced once and both of them need replacing now. The noise is metal banging on metal-it gets very loud & is very annoying. Ours did not quit working & still blow the warmed air well if you could get past the noise. cheap crap I bought a new heater with this blower installed, within 3 weeks it was unbelievably noisy. I should have taken it back to the store where i bought it but its too heavy. I ended up modifying it myself, which lasted about 2 winters then it was back to noisy. I bought an entire new blower unit to replace the original, it was just as noisy from the moment i installed it..... again i had to modify it. I have the old one still and will repair it once again. If you don't have the know how to modify this blower i suggest you buy a different product, otherwise you will have to deal with LOUD banging noise, metal on metal it sounds like. This blower is poorly designed and cheaply made. Procomm Attachment I just purchased the stove and it already had this blower installed at the factory. I have to say for as little circulation it sure does make noise. I expected to not hear the fan and it sounds like metal on metal.

The MH125FAV is the least powerful of Mr. Heater's line of propane forced-air heaters for smaller jobs (see the MH55FAV and the MH85FAV). The heater gives you 35,000 Btu--enough to heat 800 square feet. Though the larger models give you more Btus, each heater in the line shares the same basic features, including an automatic shutoff with loss of flame or power supply and a high-output fan that circulates heat quickly. Hooking the heater up to the 20-pound propane cylinder (not included) is easy, and the 10-foot hose and regulator are included. CSA certified. One-year limited warranty.--Josh DettweilerWhat's in the BoxHeater (heater body kit, control box assembly, valve with thermocouple, wire assembly, electrode, high limit switch [240 degrees F], thermocouple, motor 0.74 A, grille assembly, fan blade, 6.75 x .75 pitch, power, cord assembly, strain relief bushing, piezo ignitor, clip handle, handle), 10-foot hose, regulator, operating instructions and owner's manualFive Tips for Buying a HeaterChoosing a space heater is a matter of sifting through a bewildering array of types, power ratings, and fuel sources. Let's break it down a little to make the process easier. What are the different types of space heaters?Radiant heaters emit infrared radiation that directly warms the objects in front of the heaters (rather than the surrounding air). If you only need heat by a desk or in a small section of a room, a radiant heater is quiet and will use very little power.Forced-air heaters use a fan to blow air that has been warmed by metal or ceramic heating elements. A forced-air heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but can be noisy.Convection heaters draw cold air from the floor; the air is warmed by heating coils and emitted from the top of the heater. A convection heater is appropriate for quickly heating up a small- to medium-sized room, but also can be noisy.Radiators work by heating oil enclosed in a reservoir, gradually heating the surrounding air. If heating speed isn't an issue, you might want to opt for a radiator. These are extremely quiet and effective--perfect for bedrooms. Should I buy an electric or a combustion model? If you want a heater that will be available in emergencies, or that can heat areas larger than a single room, choose a "combustion" model--one that is powered by a gas or fuel like propane, kerosene, natural gas, or diesel. Which fuel type you choose depends largely on convenience and local availability. For example, diesel would be appropriate for a heater you take with you on long car trips. How powerful a heater do I need?Heaters are rated by BTU, which stands for British Thermal Unit (the amount of heat needed to heat one pound of water by 1 degree F). To find out how many BTU you need: Calculate the volume of the space to be heated by multiplying square footage by height. Multiply that number by 4 if your insulation is poor, 3 if it's average, or 2 if it's good. The resulting number is a ballpark figure for how many BTU you'll need.Do space heaters cost a lot to operate? As a general rule, electric space heaters are more expensive to use than combustion models. To ensure energy efficiency, a thermostat is a must-have feature for any heater. For radiant heaters, models with a 360 degree heating surface can heat larger spaces. If you need a forced-air heater, models with ceramic elements tend to be more efficient. Are space heaters a fire hazard?Space heaters are implicated in about 25,000 residential fires every year. To ensure proper safety, always follow the manufacturer's usage instructions and fill out the warranty card to receive informational updates from the manufacturer. Also, look for extra safety features such as an automatic shutoff switch that can shut down the unit if, for example, it gets upended. In addition, choose a model where the heating element is adequately enclosed within the unit.
Great space heater for garage Bought this to heat up my garage when I need to do a project in the winter (I'm in the Northeast). Amazon had the best price - prompt delivery. It does a good job(my garage is about 400 sq-ft), uses a standard 20# propane tank . Nice and compact for storage when you're not using it. hot air It took a good hour to get this thing going - holding in the 'pilot' button got real old after the first minute... and out went the flame. Then a minute longer, and out again. Eventually, having held in the button until my thumbs turned blue, it stayed on long enough for me to stretch my hands out. pffffffft. and over... and over... If it stays lit long enough this unit will work nicely to warm an uninsulated 2 car garage with 13' ceilings in under an hour. Of course, you'll have crippled hands and be almost deaf from the fan & roar of the flame - but heck! Good value, a little on the noisy side, but once you break the thermocouple in, it's alright. mine worked fine, BUT Mine has operated flawlessly, BUT I'm surprised no one else has mentioned the fumes this thing emits. In a garage with a door open it's not too noticeable, but if I close the outside door the fumes become overpowering. In an unoccupied building we were working on the fumes became so strong we had to stop the work and air out the building for several hours...could not use the unit in this scenario. Maybe there is something defective about the one I got since no one else seems to mention this problem.
