heat mate or 78 kerosene heater heater works well , very little odor when adjusted the right way, uses more fuel than quoted, i get about 9 to 10 hours on full tank, seems to be good quality, another review says item is made in japan, mine is clearly marked made in china, item was on sale then i got another 30.00 off, for the 51.00 paid i think i got a great deal. want to edit review, have used heater for 3 months now with no burning wick dry, took heater apart wick was pristine and white no tar or char. i have 4 other kerosene heaters that need wick dry burned once a month, this tells me that this heater burns cleaner than my others. want to upgrade my rating to highest number heater is very good design. Quality portable Kerosene Heater If you're looking for a small space heater for a garage, shop, or deck, this will do the job nicely. Very good quality Japanese construction (not Chinese) and simple foolproof operation. I use mine in a small shop and it works perfectly and silently taking up very little space. It didn't want to light-up..... I received it in good speed & condition... built like a tank! I put it all together... very simply done. I wasn't ready to light-up, so I let it sit a few days (the cost of kerosene was somewhat of a shock... 5 gal can. $35 or $7/gal.) I filled the tank... it was very easy using the siphon pump supplied and let it sit for 60 mins. before trying to light it. I raised the wick, etc. per directions, pushed the "ignite" button... nothing happened... I pulled-out the wick a little, per inst., to help get the wick lit... no luck. I finally resorted to the Match method... short wooden matches are TOO SHORT... had to use the long 12" wooden matches... after two tries, it lit! It began burning at optimum performance, 1st thing!! Generated some good heat... smelled a little of kerosene, but NOT too bad. After a few minutes, I turned it off... went smoothly. It now awaits colder weather to warrant lighting-up again... this time to keep my avocado tree from freezing!! I think it will serve its purpose nicely, even if I have to use matches from now on... (we shall see). It is a quality unit... very well built and is SAFE to operate. Thank you, Joe Lyddon
